West Baden Springs

On July 21, our destination was the West Baden Springs Hotel for lunch. Mark managed a memorable sightseeing surprise afterward.

We met in a Newburgh parking lot. Mark Roethemeier got us organized on on our way.

City traffic and stop lights broke our group in two before we made it to Boonville.

Regardless, we were soon on our way through sunny Indiana countryside...

...and into the woods to play.

It was a perfect day for an outing. The roads were fun.

So was the scenery.

Despite traffic delays near Holiday World, we made it to the "Carlsbad of America."

Energized travelers compared notes while we gathered for lunch in the beautiful hotel.

After lunch, we climbed to one of the highest points in the state of Indiana...

...and to the former Koch family mansion, now Home of the Pete Dye Course at French Lick Resort.

We were welcomed by PGA Co-Head Head Golf Professional Jan Tellstrom...

...who told us the fascinating history of the mansion and the golf course, and invited us to tour the facilities.

if the course was tougher than you expected, you might at least enjoy the great vistas.

The automotive scenery was pretty spectacular, too.

Outstanding style and engineering year after year.

This was a great day to visit with friends. Standing (L-R): Cathy and Jeff Bailey, Scott Klueh, Phil Green, and Tom Southwell. Seated: Linda Barth, Cheryl Roethemeier, and Dawn Green.

A good place, too, to pose for a photo next to your car. Here are
Bob and Pamela Simpson.

Time to go home? Just an excuse to enjoy more time behind the wheel!
