French Lick and the West Baden Springs Resort

Lightly overcast skies couldn't dampen the enthusiasm of club members assembling at Castle High School for a scenic drive to French Lick, Indiana, and the historic West Baden Springs Resort. Warm temperatures, sunny skies, good companions, and an entertaining roller-coaster ride through the Hoosier National Forest were all on tap for our Saturday outing.

They look fast standing still.

xx Michelsen adds her signature to the obligatory PCA event form.

Greg Collins checks our time while Mark Roethemeier hands out maps and directions.

And we're off with Mark and Cheryl leading the way.

Before long, we leave I-64 for something a little more interesting...

...a bit of a twisty roller-coaster ride through Birdseye and the Hoosier National Forest!

Wait! When did the Toyota Echo become the lead car?

There was no Porsche left behind!

Suddenly, we're on the brick-paved drive of the West Baden Springs Resort.

Sinclair's .........

Several SIR-PCA members took the guided tour which covered the history of this landmark through its hurried construction, eventual decline, and amazing restoration.

The scale of the place is impressive.
