A Year of Saturdays at D-Patrick

SIR members usually meet on the first Saturday of each month for coffee, donuts, and an hour of car talk at D-Patrick's Porsche showroom. It's a time to visit with people who share our passion for Porsches. Sometimes there are surprises and memorable moments. The following pictures capture some of our First Saturday experiences during 2016. A couple of Saturdays are not represented due to "not much going on" (to photograph) or the photographer being absent.

January 2 was warm enough to stand outside and enjoy the winter sun.

Obviously, we like to discuss Porsches, but most of us are fascinated by almost anything that handles well and goes fast, like Emil Weber's bright red Ferrari.

Officers and interested members met on January 23 to consider various events and drives.

Dates were chosen and Mark published the Calendar of Events for 2016.

April 2 coincided with the unveiling of the New 911. Tony Ricketts introduced.

Andrew Wright revealed the new turbocharged car and described its features and virtues.

Naturally, we studied it closely, enjoyed a free lunch, and went for test drives. Pretty car.

June 4 was a typical Saturday, with a good selection of donuts for the early birds.

Gotta have coffee.

There was an interesting Porsche video to watch.

And we got to examine Mike Fox's handsome new Audi TT.

On July 9 Jeff Jackson told us about his participation in the June Porsche Parade held at Jay Peak, Vermont.

Jeff drew names from a hat and shared some some souvenirs.

Outside, we took an appreciative look at Tom Southwell's new 2017 Boxster S.

August 6 brought the official unveiling of the new Boxters.

Andrew Wright described the improvements.

We checked it out.

First Saturday came on the 10th in September. Manuel Ramirez described a group tour of Germany that he was organizing for 2017. (Details)

Manuel and Dee Dee Lewis also took a test drive in a Panamera (which led to a purchase).

Emil Webber brought another Ferrari for us to drool over.

October 1 found Rich Gustafson pointing out features of his Cadillac CTS-V,...

... and Jeff Jackson showing off his perfectly appropriate T-shirt.

Car talk on a Saturday morning. Gotta love it.

D-Patrick held a German Car Show on October 22. SIR members brought lots of Porsches and D-Pat rolled out several fascinating cars from Porsche, Audi, BMW, and Mercedes.

A pretty good crowd came for the cars, the Boy Scout lunch, and a raffle at the SIR table.

The highlight was this year's Le Mans racing car.

On November 5 we got to meet new member Randy Haaf and his crisp white Cayman.

And, of course, we found other things to chat about as well.

On December 3 we said thank you to the generous folks at D-Patrick with a BBQ luncheon. They kindly allowed us to stuff a Cayman with Christmas gifts for the Marines' Toys for Tots Campaign.

These gentlemen in the Marine Reserves thanked us for the toys. It was a great end to the year and we'll probably do it again in 2017.

So, when we're not out driving the back roads of southern Indiana, Illinois, or Kentucky, this is what SIR-PCA Saturdays are like. If you're not a First Saturday "regular", join us as often as you can in 2017. Getting to know other members is a little easier over donuts and coffee than while weaving through the Hoosier National Forest at a "brisk pace".
