West Baden Springs The morning of May 18 was warm and bright, perfect for top-down motoring through the Indiana countryside. Once again, his motorcycle explorations of less-traveled back roads would show us a different way to get to our destination. Less-traveled does not mean we encountered no other traffic, however. While still in Warrick County we met this farmer. Some of the hills may have been a workout for the cyclist, but he probably anticipated the challenge. On this particular day, Guards Red 911s led the drive. At a pit stop at this Citgo Station in Huntingburg, it was clear that silver was another popular color. Back on the road, some of us managed to get turned around for a while. No matter. The day was too nice to complain. We eventually formed up with the rest of the club and continued toward French Lick and West Baden Springs. The scenery was pleasant but completely unfamiliar. At last, signage some of us recognized from a 2012 West Baden drive that included a tour of the clubhouse overlooking the famous Pete Dye golf course. Our route was approaching French Lick from the northwest. We slipped into French Lick, turned north onto Broadway Street and found the West Baden Springs Hotel gate and brick drive. Fourteen cars made this trip (three were parked behind the photographer). Lunch at Sinclair's was delicious, as usual. and capped another enjoyable drive.
