Overlook Restaurant, Leavenworth, IN

Leavenworth is just over 96 miles from Newburgh when you follow the scenic route along the Ohio River and through the Hoosier National Forest. This drive includes more than 125 curves and corners, lots of hills, and little traffic. On a crisp, sunny, fall morning, it's a great drive.

The promise of an enjoyable morning drew twelve drivers and four passengers, making this one of our most popular events. Dave Hostetter (silver Boxster) and new member Loren Urfer (red Boxster) drove over from Olney, IL, for the trip. Larry Gosh (black Cayman), another new member, joined us from New Harmony.

You could sense the anticipation of an exciting drive.

What could be nicer than a pretty fall day and a dozen Porsches rolling through the Indiana countryside?

Enjoy the view. We'll be busy soon.

It was kind of INDOT to put up these encouraging signs.

Curves and hills can be fun.

Our Caymans, Boxsters, and 911s handle everything with athletic grace and ease,...

... even the really tight twists and turns deep in the forest.

Loren Urfer's Boxster and Tom Southwell's 911 Turbo stir up a few leaves.

Some roads are just more interesting than others.

Dawn and Phil Green seem to be having fun. Vicky and Mike Fox are right behind them.

Dawn's photo captures fall colors and the Jindrichs' Carrera 4.

This might be more fun than the roller coasters at Holiday World.

It's certainly scenic.

Finally, we arrive in Leavenworth, ready for a good lunch,...

... a sweeping view of the Ohio River valley,...

... and great company!

Backs to camera: Vicky Fox, Susan Jindrich, Dawn Green, Mark Roethermeier, Pamela Simpson, Bob Simpson, Larry Gosh, and Tom Southwell. Jerry Jindrich took the photo. Dale Fatland made the drive with us but couldn't stay for lunch.
